<a href="http://kansieo.com">Kihei</a>

Aloha !

I live in Maui and have been here for the past 18 years. I am curious to know who informed you ! Shame on them.

The beaches here are the top rated beaches in the world. N Kihei and Sugar Beach are nice - the area gets a little crowded though it's still nice. Not trying to solicit you, though you might want to peak at my new property, I will be renting to vacationers

It is on the eastern tip of the island, and it is remote and very very beautiful, most likely the way you are imagining it!!

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.

Warmest Regards,

Sandra

I loved Maui; however I didn't go there just to lay on the beaches. There is so much stuff to do there. Go out and get a travel book. Maui's waters are a bit rough that is why there are lots of surfers on the waters not the best to go into like in the Gulf of Mexico.

Depends what you mean by "not swimmable."

Pristine? Well, they're obviously outdoors - so bugs, seaweed, driftwood, crabs, seashell fragments, ants, flying creatures, etc. are all part of the ballgame. I've been to the beach at Kihei, and never considered it "not swimmable".

There are great and passable beaches all throughout the islands. Hononuma Bay in Oahu (not sure of spelling) is one thing - Waikiki Beach at the peak of tourist season is another. And Waikiki before they fixed the sewer flow was STILL a big tourist draw, and I'd qualify that as not swimmable, wouldn't you?

I just find the vibe on each of the islands is different enough to more than make up for a particular beach. There are excellent spots on the Big Island, Kauai, and all the islands which are unlike each of the others.

The great thing, too, is that even if Sugar beach isn't to your liking, Lahaina is just a short drive away.

Go to Maui, and visit Makena Beach and Lahaina. Best places in Hawaii, hands down.
