Need Air Conditioning in Hawaii - Maui in May?
dougneb asked:
Traveling to Maui - Kihei and wanted to know what the weather is like. Specifically, is a place with an air conditioner a necessity? What’s the humidity like?

Create a video blog…instantly.
I would prefer air conditioning for humidity as much as temperature.
In Lahaina Maui -
Average maximum in May - 85.1
Average minimum in May - 66.7

I prefer NO air conditioning. The weather is pretty similar there all year round, usually lovely and not very humid. When I arrive, the hotel usually has put it on to cool the room, and then I turn it off. If you prefer a lot of cool air you might like it. I like it warmish and find it frigid when they leave it on. You should check the average weather in HI for the time you will be there. Most hotels have AC so you can have it on or off. Also, Kihei is a wonderful location being central to all points of the island. I have stayed in Kihei many times and love it. Have a great trip!

Good for sleeping but not needed as long as you have decent fans. As stated the humidity is the real problem but if you live in the South or in the midwest and are used to it no big deal.
