Are you supposed to tip your wedding coordinator?

Ivana Cracker asked:

Is there a rule of thumb about tipping wedding coordinators?
My mother’s getting married, small ceremony, beach in Maui, and it’s only like 6 of us, an archway, flowers, and a preacher and is about $3,500 this is INCLUDING her (coordinator) fee/ commission. My mom says she thinks she’s supposed to tip her 10% of that.
I think she’s wrong.
So ARE you even supposed to tip them, and if so how much?

We didn’t.. personally i think tipping it getting way out of hand.. we all perform services why is it that only a chosen few get to be rewarded with tips.

    No i wouldn’t tip her.

i would not, she is probably charging your mother more then enough.

When you are paying for their services tipping is not required.

I would however tip if someone went out of their way to satisfy your needs. Any extra work than what was agreed upon should be shown as appreciated through a small tip.

I would say, 20% of her fee.
