I am not really crazy about Kahului, where Harbor lights is, and the other one I do not know, but look out for parts of Wailuku, as it is very local style. S Kihei, is good and bad. The rents over here are expensive, anywhere from 1000 and up. The west side or  upcountry, Haiku, or Kula, is nice. You need to find someone with a nice quiet Ohana, you can rent relatively cheap, as the Ohana is close to the owners house, and they rent a little cheaper.If I were you I would get a copy of the Sunday Maui News, as it has a lot of rentals in the classified.
